Stopping development of Green belt

500 new houses in Swallownest, Aughton & Aston and little consultation with residents...

Back in 2015 I was involved with some other residents of the Aston-cum-Aughton area in a campaign to prevent the demolition of a 200 year old cottage near the Yellow Lion to make way for 5 new houses. We felt (as did planners ultimately) that the development wasn't in character with its surroundings.

During that campaign I stumbled across the attached map detailing Rotherham Councils plans for housing in the area, in areas of green belt. I was appalled. Here were plans for over 500 houses on our doorstep, and hardly anybody I spoke to knew a thing about it (funnily enough a post a few weeks ago by the local MP about this generated even more anger and confusion along the lines of 'when was this approved')

I want to end this over-development of our former 3 villages without consultation, without improvements to the infrastructure, and without the extra monies that these developments attract from being spent to improve our facilities.

As your Independent councillor I promise here and now that you will be better informed of this kind of thing happening in your area, and I promise you that I won't be in favour of these developments until that a huge improvement in local facilites is forthcoming.

If you're similarly shocked by this and other developments taking place without your knowledge, please give me your vote in May. And please share the page (and the post) so that others are aware too. Thank you
