Lets revisit Swallownest Station

Back in the early 1990's there was a plan to build a railway station to serve Swallownest and Aston - at the junction of Chesterfield Road and the railway that you will know as the Kiveton to Sheffield line. A Park & Ride service here would reduce journey times to Sheffield to just 15 minutes and be a real boost to commuters, and link to Supertram and obviously all National Rail Services...

If elected I would make it a long term aim to get this station back on the agenda - utilising monies freed up by the cancellation of HS2 to fund it. The South Yorkshire Mayor will have the power to grant this service and the building of the station. I'm not convinced the current mayor will even be aware of its possibilities, but I'd ensure he was in future.
