Potholes

Recently BBC Watchdog reported on the massive problem of potholes and the expensive damage they cause to our vehicles. It's a huge problem in Rotherham, and as a resident of the Aston cum Aughton area I can confirm it's a huge problem round here.

You can claim for the damage to your cars. But your Council can refuse a claim for any potholes that haven't been reported. I’ve tried to use the Councils site to report a pothole - and I’m sorry - its hopeless. In most cases it simply points you to a telephone number. I want that process to be easier with referece numbers publicised on potholes reported to allow people to hold the Council accountable.

In the meantime to simplify the process I am prepared, if elected, to deliver a simple way to report them in Aughton & Swallownest directly to me, and I will manage the process of reporting them to the Council for you.

My sister broke a wheel recently driving on the lane from Treeton to Canklow which is more pothole than road. Her claim was refused by RMBC because nobody had reported the potholes to them. Let's make that a thing if the past

I aim to develop a Faceook page to allow you to report them in the next few days
